Bayer Rewards PLUS Calculator

CHALLENGE

Bayer introduced a new rewards program that encouraged farmers to purchase products across multiple business segments; seed, herbicide, fungicide, and insecticide. The more business units they purchased from, the more they would earn in rewards.

Because of this program’s complexity, there was a desire to build a calculator on the website that would help a farmer figure out how much they could potentially earn. There are a lot of legal requirements and rules that had to be included, but they needed a streamlined and simple experience for an audience jaded by clunky tools and bad rewards programs of the past.

PROCESS

This tool was highly technical in nature with countless calculations happening and conditional logic, so we started off with a number of client working sessions. We needed to map out every potential math scenario that could happen so we could identify what interaction states a user would see on the frontend.

Once we had the mathematical scenarios and potential user flows laid out, I was able to dig in and start wireframing. The approach to this tool was very different than the previous reward calculators that the brand had, due to the nature of the new program and learnings from the existing tools. We presented two approaches and the client went with the one we recommended.

After wireframes were completed, I helped pass them off to design where I worked with an associate creative director to skin the tool and help implement any design ideas.
